Dr. Mariano Palena’s Journey in Endovascular Innovation

Dr. Mariano Palena is an internationally recognized Interventional Radiologist with a strong focus on endovascular treatment for limb salvage, particularly in patients with Chronic Limb-Threatening Ischemia (CLTI) and diabetic foot complications. His work combines clinical excellence, research, and education to advance minimally invasive solutions that help patients avoid amputation whenever possible.

Professional Background

After graduating in Medicine and completing his specialization in Radiology at the University of Bologna (Italy), Dr. Mariano Palena dedicated his career to advancing endovascular solutions for patients with severe peripheral artery disease and limb-threatening conditions.

He led the Endovascular Surgery Unit at GVM Maria Cecilia Hospital (2019–2022), where he managed complex cases of Chronic Limb-Threatening Ischemia (CLTI) and diabetic foot revascularization.
Dr. Palena has also maintained a long-standing collaboration with Policlinico Abano Terme (since 2010).

  • Co-Founder and Course Director of CLI-Courses – the leading international meeting on CLTI and diabetic foot revascularization, entirely built around live cases.
  • Founder of DREAM Vascular (Diabetic foot REvascularization & reconstruction Advanced Meeting) – a new educational event launching in March 2026, focused on multidisciplinary strategies for limb salvage.
  • Frequent speaker, live case operator, and faculty member at major international vascular congresses.
  • Mentor for physicians worldwide through fellowship programs and hands-on training.
